About the Program

Leadership Greensboro is a unique, three-part development program that looks to education, volunteer leadership, and alumni engagement to guide the leadership skills of participants over the course of nine months. Our alumni report that they are consistently more engaged in their communities and more invested in their workplaces after completing our program.

Each year, a diverse cohort of 45 leaders from public, private, and non-profit sectors make up our nine-month program. Together, you will explore important issues in our community, develop and practice strategies and tools to become a more effective leader, and expand your personal and professional networks. The application period opens on May 15, 2026, and closes on July 1, 2026, for the 2027 Class. The class runs from September to May.

Improving perspectives of their city

“[LG] really changed my assessment of Greensboro civic and community leadership. I recently returned to the area after being away for decades – I grew up here. My perception of GSO was still stuck in the past, and Leadership Greensboro helped me to see it in a new light and appreciate the progress that has been made.”

Empowering people to take action

“I learned so much about Greensboro. LG helped me understand the issues, and what I could do that could impact those issues.”
