Member Profile: CERT, Center for Energy Research and Technology at NC A&T State University

January 31, 2019 by Bryelle Dafeldecker

Visit Them -> 1601 E Market St

CERT will be hosting the 10th Annual Energy Day at NCA&T’s BB&T Stadium on April 9th and 10th this year. Oak Ridge National Labs will be bringing their Traveling Science Fair to Greensboro for this event. Greensboro companies and the public are invited, and it is FREE. Sponsorships are needed to pay for student bus transportation. Please help CERT continue its leadership in both STEM and energy-education outreach to Guilford County Schools, and across the state.

CERT is a leader in energy research at NC A&T, and is active in both STEM and energy education outreach in Guilford County Schools, and across the state. NC A&T has been a university leader in Greensboro since being established over a hundred years ago. CERT was established more than 25 years ago and has been engaged in its research mission and educational outreach mission since then. Greensboro is an excellent place to interact with industry that uses energy, and with the students in Guilford County Schools that we try to attract to STEM career paths.

Why join the Greensboro Chamber?
The Chamber has been instrumental to help CERT build relationships with local industry through its many collaborative opportunities (Coffee & Conversation, Collab, Action Greensboro, Annual meeting, Working Groups, etc.)

Did you know?
CERT is hosting the 10th Annual Energy Day at the NCA&T BB&T Stadium on Tuesday, April 9 and Wednesday, April 10, 2019. Oak Ridge National Laboratory will bring their “Traveling Science Fair” to Greensboro for Energy Day. This is the first time they will visit NC and will provide a once-in-a-child’s-lifetime opportunity to see their extensive set of trailers/interactive demos. The event is open to the public and is free. We expect a total attendance of over 10,000 people (mostly GCS students) over the two days.

Interested in helping? We would love to have local companies help to sponsor this event!
CERT needs some financial support to pay for school buses to bring GCS students to the event.

January 2, 2019 by Bryelle Dafeldecker

From Intern to Principal, Courtney Ageon lands promotion

LBA Haynes Strand, PLLC is pleased to announce Courtney Ageon has been promoted to Principal, effective January 1st, 2019.
As Courtney joins the principal leadership team, she will remain focused on serving the tax, accounting, and audit needs of our clients in the Triad as well as across the state.

Dave Recchion, Greensboro Office Managing Partner, “Courtney is a natural leader and doesn’t need permission to lead. She has broken an extremely male-dominated leadership barrier and has proven that a woman is able to successfully achieve a healthy work-life balance. Consistently doing the right thing for the firm and our clients, she effortlessly leads our team to success. LBA Haynes Strand would not be the same without her talent.”

Courtney has worked her way up at LBA Haynes Strand since starting as a college intern. After 20 years of service, this promotion is a result of Courtney’s hard work, loyalty to the Firm, commitment to the team, and dedication to providing quality tax services to her clients.

“We are proud to see Courtney achieve this goal in her career and cannot wait to see what all she will accomplish. Please join us in congratulating Courtney on this exciting promotion!”
